DIY Sugar Scrub for All Skin Types
Good skin starts with great skincare. I am super lazy when it comes to being religious with my moisturizing routine and that has definitely resulted in my skin being super dry and flaky. If you are like me and are ridiculously lazy about taking care of your skin, a really good nourishing scrub is all you need for great skin in just a few days. I am big DIY person and would rather experiment with making my own stuff than buy something for an exorbitant price (I made this super easy brush cleaner too). This easy three step DIY sugar scrub is by far the easiest no-mess scrub that I have made for my super dry skin and all it takes is five minutes of your time to make it and five more minutes to use it in the shower.
1 cup white sugar, fine granulated works the best.
1/4 cup olive oil, you could also use coconut oil or even avocado oil.
1 tablespoon lemon juice, you could skip this but I like the acids in the lemon to work away my tan.
A few drops of essential oil, just to make the scrub smell good.
A jar or a tin to hold your scrub.
Measure out the sugar into your container. You can always add more sugar once you know how much oil it takes up.
Add the olive oil to the sugar and stir. There should be enough oil to just coat all the sugar and not be so much that the sugar just swims in the oil. You can add more sugar at this point to make the mixture denser.
Squeeze in your lemon juice. If the mixture becomes too thin again adjust the sugar quantity accordingly.
If you like you could just stop here. If the oil smell doesn’t bother you then you could just give your scrub a stir and use it as it is. I have a sensitive nose and the smell of oil just doesn’t do it for me so I added a couple of drops of my favorite essential oil to counteract the smell.
Give your scrub a stir and you’re all set to use it the next time you shower.
I just scoop out a little scrub while in the shower and gently exfoliate my face and body. The oil in the scrub adheres to my skin and gets absorbed real easy since pores open up during a hot shower. Since I started using this, I don’t feel the need to use additional lotions to moisturize my skin and in just a couple of weeks my skin has already started glowing. Go ahead try this easy peasy sugar scrub and watch your skin become healthy, naturally.
